The past few weeks I have traveled to some of the fishing festivals and local fly fishing shops throughout our great state, one question keeps coming up, the Texas coast is not a destination spot for out of state fly fishermen/women. So this has me thinking, why is this so. […]

Destination Texas

Today we set out to new territory and boy did it pay off. We left out of Corpus Christi, TX at seven this morning, the crew was as follows; my father Frank Townsend, Lloyd Jones and I. We launched our Hells Bay Professional and ran about thirteen miles winding through […]

Off the Grid

This day, Capt. Lloyd Jones of Skinny Water Addiction and I, left Corpus Christi, Texas on scouting trip with just Fly rods loaded. We launched at Bird Island aboard Lloyds Hells Bay Professional and ran south on the Laguna Madre towards Baffin Bay. We were scouting for the upcoming Rudy’s […]

Went on a great trip down south, fly fishing only, with fellow captain, Lloyd Jones with Skinny Water Addiction. We left Corpus Christi, TX at 5:30 and launched at bird island around 6:15am. It was a rare day with light winds in the morning, of course being spring time they […]

Guide Outing

Don from Roy’s Bait and Tackle and I went out for a fly fishing trip on the upper Laguna Madre out of Corpus Christi, Texas. We fought wind, rain and cloud cover but still ended up having a good day seeing redfish on the spoil banks.

Laguna Madre

Cameron and I went out for some light tackle action out of Port Aransas, Texas. Despite the overcast windy conditions we ended up catching some redfish in the back lakes and marshes.

Springtime light tackle

Had a great day on the water with Sabrina and Sean. We site casted to many reds and had a great all around day even though it was overcast and a little cool.

This day, Jeff Davis an orvis endorsed guide, his daughter, my brother and myself went out and had three hours of the best fishing of 2016. Jeffs daughter caught her first site casted red, we ended the day with 52 fish released on the fly, a day we won’t forget.

Best day of 2016

Mickey and I getting out and doing some scouting. Boy did we find them, instead of catching them we just watched what was happening and let them feed peacefully. Did catch a few just to see what size were in the schools of fish, another great day on the water.

Mickey and I fished the Lydia Ann Fly Masters tournament in 2016. We had a great day catching and releasing over 16 redfish with many over 28″. The winning redfish for us was 30 1/4″, it was a great tournament and even though we had inclement weather, we had a […]
